Reiki uses healing energy made up of life force energy that is guided by  spiritually guided life force energy.  Reiki energy seems to have an intelligence of its own, flowing where it is needed in the client and creating  healing conditions. Apparently, it cannot be misused as it always creates a healing effect.

Both Ashton and I had Reiki yesterday. I had it when I was pregnant with Blaise. I’ve also done lots of Chakra therapy, I’ve had my cards read, palms read and hypnosis, so I am very open to non-traditional ideas. No, I do not currently practice anything remotely healthy. I do not even breathe right. This was so very obvious when the practitioner began.

I could primarily feel bad?/excess? energy buzzing in my head. My heart and my gut were stirring, as well. But my HEAD! wow. It was like she sucked out a giant glob of stress. Of course, I do not know what Ashton felt, but she spent a good 45 minutes with him in silence. His second session.

After I left the room, I felt…nicer. Kinda floaty, like when I used to do chakra cleansing. Sadly, the buzzing of the world gets in there very quickly and zaps your Reiki buzz fairly quickly.

So, on to more important topics: Dr. Raj Basu, Attending in ICU just came in to follow up with me about a conversation we had yesterday regarding pain control. He said, “this is above my head”. Freakin’ great.

He got in touch with someone from another hospital on the burn team and will be advised today how to better treat the skin. They cannot just keep him in a little coma all the time.

I have had to learn his wound care to an extent, such as when a nurse goes to lunch and I don’t want him to be in pain. I just figured it out after watching. I will be so happy when this phase is over.

We had a photo of him blown up from when he was healthy and framed it above his bed so that caregivers know who they are treating. Putting a face to the patient. He looks vastly different now. It is to show the little boy we wish to get back to. And we will.

I too believe in alternative med,& am so glad you got even got a moments peace! Great idea with the picture , it WILL help caregivers to work harder, because they can see him as a little person, not just a dressing change .I’m sure you know this, but people in a coma (whether induced or occurring on its on) can hear up until the last minute.I know it’s true for sure because I was comatose once & could remember what was said. I always talked to my pts regardless,& have had some who knew who I was by hearing me talk-
